Everyday Life tool

Internet Speed Test

Check your broadband, Wi-Fi or mobile connection using the hosted Meter.net widget. Load it only when you are ready.

Download, upload & response time

Before you start

Pause downloads, cloud backups and streaming on your network. For a broadband check, use Ethernet if available; a Wi-Fi test also measures the limitations of your wireless connection.

Read your results

Download is how quickly data reaches you. Upload is how quickly you send it. Both use Mbps: higher is faster. Ping is response time in milliseconds: lower is better. Jitter is variation in that response time.

External speed-test service — Meter.net connects only when you load the panel; running a test uses data.

Good to know

How this tool works

Load the Meter.net panel, then press Start inside it. Test traffic goes directly between your browser and the provider, not through our server. Results describe this connection at this moment, not a guaranteed service speed.

Frequently asked questions

What is Internet Speed Test useful for?

Check download speed, upload speed and ping. Review the result before acting on it; the tool helps with the task but cannot know every real-world circumstance.

Is my information stored?

Our tool does not save your speed results. Loading the embedded panel shares connection information with Meter.net under its privacy policy. Closing it cannot undo information already shared.

Why is my result different from my broadband plan?

Wi-Fi signal, your device, other network activity, a VPN and the route to the test server can all affect the result. Repeat at different times and try Ethernet before drawing conclusions about your provider.

Does this use my mobile data?

Yes, if your device is using mobile data. Speed tests transfer data in both directions and can use a substantial allowance. Loading the panel does not automatically start a test.
