Frequently asked questions

Which PDFs benefit most?

Scanned pages and photo-heavy documents usually benefit most. PDFs made mostly from text and vector artwork can already be very small; converting them into images can make them larger. Savings are not guaranteed.

What changes in the new PDF?

Each visible page is rendered and saved as a compressed JPEG inside a new PDF. Page proportions and displayed sizes are retained. Text is no longer selectable, searchable or accessible to screen readers. Links, bookmarks, layers, attachments and original metadata are not copied. Colours and fine details may change. This is not a lossless optimiser or secure-redaction tool.

Can I compress signed PDFs or forms?

Interactive forms, digitally signed and protected PDFs are rejected. Use an unsigned, unprotected, flattened export. Never replace a signed original with a compressed copy.

Are my files uploaded or stored?

No. Files and previews are held temporarily in this browser tab. Reset or leaving the page releases the working files. Downloads remain in your normal download folder. There is no account or payment required.

Why are there limits?

Up to 25 MB input and 100 pages are processed one page at a time. Output is limited to 100 MB and page images are capped at 3,000 pixels on their longest side and six million pixels. Large pages may use a lower resolution than the selected setting. Older phones may need fewer pages.
