What counts as a word, character or paragraph?
Words are runs of letters or numbers; internal apostrophes and hyphens stay together, so “don’t” and “well-known” each count as one. Emoji and punctuation alone are not words. Counts work best with languages that separate words; this is not a multilingual word segmenter.
Characters are Unicode code points, not visual symbols: some emoji and combined accents count as more than one. Line endings count as one character each. “Without whitespace” excludes spaces, tabs and line breaks. Paragraphs are separated by blank lines.
Sentence boundaries use the browser’s English sentence rules, with each line treated separately. Headings and unfinished lines with words count as fragments. Abbreviations can differ between browsers and word processors.
Text is processed as written; HTML tags and code are not removed or executed. Frequency counts are not SEO scores, grammar checks or plagiarism detection.
Up to 100,000 characters. No saved drafts, uploads or text tracking. Reset clears the working text and results.

Good to know
How this tool works
Paste ordinary text, select your analysis options and press Analyse text. Counts and repeated phrases use the rules explained beside the tool. Adjust reading and speaking speeds to your own pace. Reading level is a rough English-only estimate, not a judgement of the quality of your writing.
Frequently asked questions
What is Advanced Text Analyser useful for?
Count words, estimate reading time and spot repeated words and phrases. Validate a small sample before processing important data, and keep a copy of the original input.
Is my information stored?
Your text is processed locally in a browser worker. It is not uploaded by this tool or saved in browser storage. Clear releases the working input and result. Downloads remain in your normal download folder.
Why do counts differ from my word processor?
Tools use different rules for hyphenated words, apostrophes, numbers, emoji and sentence boundaries. This tool explains its rules and treats headings and unfinished lines as sentence fragments. Paragraphs require a blank line between them.
Are reading time and reading level exact?
No. Time uses your selected words-per-minute rate without pauses. The English Flesch–Kincaid estimate relies on approximate syllables and sentence boundaries. Neither score measures understanding, factual accuracy or writing quality.
Does keyword frequency improve search rankings?
The table simply counts repetitions. It is not an SEO score or a recommended keyword target. Use it to spot wording you may want to review, not to force repeated keywords into your text.
