Frequently asked questions
What is Video to Images useful for?
Select a video clip and save sampled frames as JPEG or PNG images. Preview the complete result with sound before sharing it and keep the source recording unchanged.
Is my information stored?
Your text is processed locally in a browser worker. It is not uploaded by this tool or saved in browser storage. Clear releases the working input and result. Downloads remain in your normal download folder.
Which video formats work?
This tool uses your browser’s video decoder. File extensions alone do not guarantee support: the codec inside must also be supported. Try MP4 with H.264 or WebM. Proprietary CCTV formats, encrypted files and damaged videos are not supported.
Is this frame-exact extraction?
It samples the decoded image at each requested time. Browser seeking, variable frame rates and source encoding can affect the frame returned. Increasing the sampling rate can create duplicates. Filenames contain requested sample times, not original frame numbers. This is not a forensic or evidential extraction tool.
Why are there limits?
Files stay in your browser’s memory: up to 500 MB input, six hours duration, 100 output images and 60 MB of images per batch. The longest image edge is at most 1,920 pixels, with aspect ratio preserved and no upscaling. Small devices may need smaller batches. Cancel discards incomplete extraction; Reset clears the working files.
Will the pictures match the original video?
Images capture the decoded picture, without audio, subtitles or player controls. JPEG is lossy; PNG avoids additional lossy compression. Scaling, browser colour conversion and HDR can affect appearance. Review results before sharing.
